Mamulengo rocking chair
Designed for Elon, Brazil - 2013

The Mamulengo rocking chair was developed from an experimental approach that rethinks the use of 2D CNC machining technology typically applied to cabinetry and architectural components. Through detailed ergonomic studies carried out in 3D software, the seat and overall proportions were digitally modeled and then segmented into 22 precisely cut flat panels. These elements are assembled and aligned by five stainless steel threaded rods, transforming these flat sections into a cohesive three-dimensional form.

The chair delivers a high level of comfort through its organic geometry, carefully shaped to support the human body. Produced with millimetric precision, Mamulengo combines technical rigor with a sculptural presence. Its flowing, layered profile and smooth rocking motion create a distinctive visual identity, positioning the piece as a refined object designed for comfort and relaxation.
